The New TNT Show "The Alienist" Has a Capital Region Connection

I'm really looking forward to watching the new TNT show The Alienist.  What I didn't know was that the show had a Capital Region connection.  The book on which the show is based was written by Caleb Carr, who lives in Berlin in Rensselaer County.  He wrote The Alienist about 24 years ago, and the book right were quickly snatched up by Paramount pictures.  However, nothing ever came of it.  Now all these years later, the book has been made into a 10 part TV series airing on TNT beginning tonight.  However, that's not the end of the story.  Caleb was thrilled with some aspects of the show, so he asked that his name be removed from the credits, but it will remain.  You'll see him listed as a consulting producer tonight.  Also, he wrote a sequel to The Alienist called The Angel of Darkness and TNT has already bought the rights to that book in case their is a second season to the show.  Carr is in the midst of writing the third in the series called The Alienist at Armageddon.   At the very least Carr is hoping the show will bring people back to the book.  I think it will.   I want to read it myself.  To find out more about Caleb Carr, click here.  And let me know, will you be watching the show tonight?  I definitely will!!
